The battle to find the best team to never win a title rages on. Who would win the 05 Suns vs the 98 Pacers?
I love the answers i have gotten so far by the legit users on this site.
Started a tournament and will have a matchup everyday?
This tournament consist of 16 of the best teams to not win NBA championships. 80’s Lakers and Celtics teams that lost do not count.

I am only counting teams that never went on to win. I am seeded them by record and home court goes to best record. I have selected these teams based on my own screening process

Today’s matcup is the 05 Suns vs 98 Pacers Suns have homecourt.
Very much an offense vs defense matchup

Here is the Lineups
05 Suns
C - Amare Stoudamire Bench
F - Shawn Marion Jim Jackson
F - Q.Richardson Leandro Barbosa
G - Joe Johnson
G - Steve Nash

98 Pacers Bench
C Rik Smits Antonio Davis
F Dale Davis Jalen Rose
F Chris Mullin Derrick Mckey
G Reggie Miller Travis Best
G Mark Jackson

Please only answer who would win this matchup. The final first round matchup will follow. Please be as thorough as possible as to why you stand behind whatever team you choose. Tommorow or later today I will continue to matchups. Person with the most logical and thorough answer gets best answer. We will decide together who the greatest team to never win a title is.
Remember majority rules here. It doesn’t matter what I think however my vote does count.

Suns Review: One of the most potent NBA offenses in the past 25 years, they don’t have a player you’ve listed that can’t go off (well, maybe Q. Richardson but even with Nash, he could.) Then we all know the story about their defense or lack there of - virtually non-existent in D’Antoni’s run and shoot offense. They’ve got one of the best run ‘n’ gun PG’s in Nash, two athletic monsters in Amare and Marion. Then key shooters like Barbosa, Johnson, Richardson and Jimmy Jackson.

Pacers Review: Quite a high quality team of balance - with offense inside and outside. Defense and toughness as well. You get the inside scoring from a very underrated Rik Smits (and Antonio Davis), two of the NBA’s greatest sharp-shooters in Chris Mullin and Reggie Miller together who both bring clutch play. Then the steady flow of a floor general such as Mark Jackson. On the defensive end, Mark Jackson was also a shut-down PG on the perimeter, while Dale Davis was one of the premiere rebounders of the 90s. Jalen Rose is also an explosive scorer off your bench, and an aged Derrick McKey was still productive at this point in his career.

Backcourt: Even — Nash brings the excess offense for Phoenix, which I don’t think Jackson would stop due to the immense options for Nash. Reggie Miller would eat up a mediocre defender in Joe Johnson.

Forward: Chris Mullin over Quentin Richardson easily. Richardson only excelled with wide open shots from the corner; Mullin wouldn’t allow this on his watch. Richardson is also a poor defender who would get lit up by a pro like Mullin.

Frontcourt: Rik Smits and Dale Davis over Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion — Smits has the height advantage of the athletic Stoudemire, and The Dunkin’ Dutchman had a nice arsenal of post moves and up and unders for the weak-defense of Amare. Shawn Marion gets nowhere near the paint with the tough defense of Dale Davis guarding it; so we’re forced to watch Marion’s ugly jump shot all game, which won’t do much harm.

Bench: Pacers easily, with a perfect blend of scoring and rebounding to Phoenix one-dimensional bench. Donnie Walsh did a fantastic job building this team. As you could tell, they gave the 98 Bulls a major fit in the playoffs.

Pacers in 6.

1998 Pacers win

the Suns don’t have enough defense to beat the Pacers and the Pacers could score with them

Depends on if it’s first to win four games pacers win in 6 or 7 because pacers had a sharpshooter while suns had no defense so suns would last their home games but Reggie would hit a buzzer beater
if it’s one game Suns would win in one game because they would be in Phoenix nd suns would outscore them

The 2005 Phoenix Suns.

The Suns defense was horrible that year, they were all O and no D..

I say that Pacers win by default.
